El compresor en un sistema de refrigeración mecánico, debe ser lubricado para reducir la fricción y evitar el desgaste. El tipo especial de lubricante utilizado en los sistemas de refrigeración, se llama aceite para refrigeración.
Los aceites lubricantes de compresores para refrigeración, son productos especializados, y como tales, requieren consideración por separado de otros lubricantes.
